“Hawley should be censured by his Senate colleagues for his actions which have undermined a peaceful transition of power and for provoking yesterday’s riots in our nation’s capital," wrote Humphreys. "We owe it to our children and grandchildren to protect our country and its Constitutional underpinnings."
This donor gave $2mm to Hawley and related support organizations.

This Trump stunt is going to hurt the GOP in the coffers.

Hawley is also a Stanford alum, Yale Law, Clerk to Justice Roberts, a professor of law at UMissouri, He knows the Law. Probably pretty smart.

When Hawley (and Cruz) went forward with their plan and protested the PA vote (a state BTW neither of them represent) they were on the wrong side of history. Some day, probably soon, they’re both going to think back and realize “that’s the mistake that took down my political career”. At least the other Trumpers were savvy enough to spend their 5 minutes denouncing what happened in the Capitol and denouncing Trump. They *may* survive with their careers intact.

Educated != smart != politically savvy

Yes, chances are he is pretty smart. Even smart people do dumb things from time to time.

That will serve him well when he's working the Wendy's drive through in 3 years.

His timing sucked. His big moment was ruined by inconsiderate people storming the Capitol, which became the big story of the day - maybe of the year. How rude of them.

I doubt it. Donors will simply find other conservative candidates to back.

Ted Cruz is another highly educated man who's judgment is often clouded by his political ambition.

Bill Clinton was a pretty smart guy who managed to get himself impeached.

Richard Nixon's Duke Law degree didn't stop him from making colossal errors.

Exactly. Some people who are extremely intelligent often get taken down/blinded by their own hubris. They let their intelligence and credentials go right to their ego. To me this describes Hawley, Cruz, and Clinton. Now Clinton was just a sexual predator. But the other two think they know better, can manipulate people, all to further their careers or, if not that, to get them some fame.
