They live in a fantasy land. They aren't oppressed. They are sad their guy can't oppress others for the next four years.

They protested against the very same government and Constitution that installed Trump as President four years ago. No one is surprised that sore winners would be such sore losers.

Oh really?!!

Ive read numerous posts of people mentioning the 'safety and security' of lawmakers were put at risk....by American citizens...!!! LOL

What kind of 'America' do we live in, when 'American citizens' are viewed as a safety/security threat to the US Capitol?!!!

(Oh I bet if they were lobbyists, they would have been welcomed in) LOL

Very sad and disappointing to see this American spirit crushed today!

In reality this was a very brief and minor form of civil disobedience.
Then the colonists wrote a a constitution and elected themselves a legislature. And a few short centuries later, a bunch of goons in Wal-Mart camo and Qanon t-shirts were allowed to run amuck in said legislature.

Rebellion has to have some sort of point, once you're past adolescence. These guys were live-action roleplaying and having a great old time of it, right until the point where the tear gas hit. Then they realized that they'd committed felonies and photographed themselves doing so. Then the guy who gave their marching orders retreated far, far away and gave a speech that left them completely flappping in the breeze.

Sucks to be them. What was that t-shirt that you guys got so mad about - **** around and find out? Well, they're going to find out.

When their intent is to disrupt the legislature, they are a threat. Just curious: Does this open-door policy you appear to argue in favor of extend to the White House?

The Declaration of Independence:

https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/creatin...ses/index.html

"but when a long train of abuses & usurpations [begun at a distinguished period, &] pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to subject reduce them to arbitrary power under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government & to provide new guards for their future security."

Or the simplified version:

https://quizlet.com/176839859/the-de...e-flash-cards/

What duty do people have if government fails to fulfill its purpose?

To get rid of it, to abolish it "...That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government..."

You do have a very minor point: A bunch of rabble-rousers have been feeding them lies and fanning those beliefs for financial gain. Then again, the lynch crowds of yore mostly BELIEVED they were killing the right guy.

President Lincoln used to leave the Whitehouse door unlocked, so 'American citizens' could come and speak to him about problems they had...to think, that our own Govt views us a security threat....really proves how our modern day Govt is working against the people today...

If our lawmakers were actually representing American citizens...they wouldnt need to have safety/security measures in place at these govt buildings!

Same thing during the American Revolution...do you think EVERYONE living in the colonies all agreed that we should break away from England? Of course not!! Tories thought we should remain under Englands rule.

Another point is, the colonists resorted to things like 'destruction of property, theft, violence, etc too!
Many people BELIEVE false things. Belief does not equal true.

The purpose of government isn't to re-elect Donald Trump. Part of the purpose of government is to secure a peaceful transition of power, a duty that was forcefully interrupted by a mob, high on unfocused anger as their scaffold of lies came crashing down around them.
