Supposedly the only way to save lives in by getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Great idea if you can get it. The Texas vaccine distribution "plan" is completely useless. I'm a 1A healthcare worker and it's mandatory; I can't work without it. But I can't get it either. There are few waiting lists, no appointments, no information, no direction. All we have is a map that lists anticipated vaccine deliveries at different locations; Texans are completely on our own to track vaccines down. Intermittent surprise appointment lists suddenly appear and the slots fill up in 5 minutes. I sit by the computer and check over and over. I signed up on the only waiting lists I could find to be told being on the list doesn't guarantee anything.

The Harris County Health Department says to contact providers directly about vaccine but you can't do that. The employees get angry when you ask and say they have no idea when or if they will get it and there is no waiting list available. The hospitals are vaccinating by invitation only. I work out of state so I don't have an employment connection in TX but since I am a resident, it's easier to get the vaccine in Texas because I'm at the back of the line in Alaska, where I work. Even though I'm extremely careful, I believe I'll become infected before I can get the vaccine, the numbers are so high. Am I the only person having this much difficulty? What is the policy in your state? Have you received the vaccine?

Maybe the problem is that it is State and local bureaucrat officials running the show, instead of MD's.

Maybe the virus is going to do what it wants regardless of what politicians want us to do.

Kentucky

As of Friday my state was in the top 10 of states based on the percentage of the vaccines received that had been administrated. All my relatives in the state who work in hospitals have all received their first shot and my nephew who is a probation officer says they are being told they will be moving to them soon. I have heard no complaints, either on the news or by word of mouth.

That's awful. I'm sorry you are having the same problems. We need to be doubly careful with the masks, social distancing, and hand washing then.
