There are 74 million Trump supporters. How many were at the Capital building incident? How many of the group resorted to violence? I rest my case.
Take this as a starting point on agreement.
OG recognizes not all the protestors were violent. Only a small percentage stormed the building. And he is smart enough to know and see the same with the BLM protestors.
Just another protest? They ransacked the capital during a vote to certify an incoming president at the request of the outgoing president, they sent congressmen running for cover as they smashed doors and windows. This is about the president attempting to overthrow democracy. So no this wasn't a protest it was terrorism condoned by the President, thank god he was voted out of office and will be gone Jan 20 maybe sooner.
The people who did this believed the election had been rigged/hacked/stolen/etc. So ironically, they didn't believe they were fighting against democracy, but for it.
A couple posts above this I gave a partial transcript of what I heard the protesters saying to the capitol police, and what was really going on. They had no intention of hurting anyone, and showed genuine concern when the officer got hurt. They wanted the police to join their side, and were surprised when they didn't.
The Proud Boys were practically in tears because they backed the cops all summer against antifa and BLM, and expected the police to treat them as friends, instead they used pepper spray and beat them with sticks.
This riot was encouraged by the president, his attorney and his family which takes an active role in his decision making. They were even recorded, now deleted but available, partying with the rioters. They are trying to walk back their encouragement of the riots and in the end show they are lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut.
If this is your way of distancing yourself, and your party from that shocking bit of lawlessness, good job.
And I mean that sincerely. If you are saying "this isn't who we are, and most of us find this violence appalling".
Then, yes. More republicans need to come out and say that loud and clear. A lot of y'all are, actually, which is heartening. There's hope after all.

There are tons of videos of the police officers opening doors for the ANTIFA and BLM members. They not only let ANTIFA in but they gave them a police escort with lights activated there!!! And yes its been confirmed that it was Antifa that were paid to be there portraying as MAGA....some MAGA people were guilty of trespassing inside the capital but not for attacking police. The OP was completely dishonest in his narration of events. He claims the cop was pleading for help. No, it was the protester who was pleading for someone to help the officer.
After my experience the last couple days, I've come to realize the majority of this country are a bunch of blood-thirsty liars.

The president had a great influence on creating this climate and inciting this over the last several weeks and of course it wasn't based on any facts. Beating a dead horse but they lost at the polls, lost in the courts, lost in all the state challenges but they still believe this was stolen. Trying to stop the certification of an incoming president through violence is an attack on democracy. Some of the cops were taking selfies with the protestors and were complicit in the beginning, that all changed in rapid order. Just imagine if this was BLM.
Looking at those images just disgusts me and made us the laughing stock of the world. I think back to when we sent election monitors to the Philippines when Marcos was president also to Panama and Venezuela, this damaged our standing as a beacon of democracy greatly, sad day.
