As riot raged at Capitol, Trump tried to call senators to overturn election (Giuliani, claim)

So, apparently Trump and Giuliani were calling Senators to get them to delay the certification during the riots while the Senators were "in a temporary holding room" in the Capitol.

I simply cannot understand what sort of reception they thought they would get from the people they'd placed in harm's way. That not one but two human beings would think this was a good idea is amazing. And what did they think they'd accomplish with these antics?

Giuliani apparently left a message on the wrong senator's telephone line when he was doing that. He either forgot or misread the right number. Trump supporters claim that Biden has dementia but I'd rather think ol' Rudy has it worse.

Well if I was looking at possible jail time and or a loss of millions like Manafort, I might be desperate enough to want to hold onto the safety of the presidency where I'm free from prosecution and the statue of limitations would run out before I was out of office.

One has to wonder why Trump would go to such lengths to stay in power? It reeks of desperation.
