I find it humorous how little people who throw out the term “communist†actually understand what it is.
In communism, companies wouldn’t have the right to moderate their content as they wish. They’d have to moderate it according to government rules, like in China.
In the USA, companies have the freedom to do almost anything they want. If you don’t like it, you send a message with your wallet. If they keep making money, and stay in business then you are out of luck. You can whine, but you aren’t allowed to tell companies what to do just because you don’t like it.
And I find it humorous that people on-line have no idea whom they are talking to, and thus type god knows what.
In communism ( and China is NOT really a communist country,) the state enterprises serve the interest of state, and don't work for profit.
So they are commanded strictly by the authoritarian government.
In the USA, the companies are working for profit of their owners, but since it's ( supposedly) the country of "freedom and democracy," the companies are heavily regulated by the government, for the "public good."
And that's how it was so far, until *certain companies* got the drift from the government that it's not going to regulate them any longer, so that only the interests of the "right kind of public" would be served - the kind that government likes and supports.
Yet OFFICIALLY, on the surface, everything remains the same - "freedom of speech," "democracy" and all.
None of your abominable authoritarianism - oh no.
With other words, quoting one famous character here - "Slimy but satisfying."
And that's what communists out there need to learn.
( Although I think Putin already got his clues somehow with his "managed Democracy.")
Republicans aren't able to speak and be heard....only democrats. This is the world we live in now. They want to shut up over half the country.
If things like this keep happening then don't sit back and wonder why civil war breaks out.
If google and apple want to remove Parler app, then that is taking American's speech away. that's serious and I don't think a lot of people will sit back and allow it.
If you're going to stop access to the Parler app because you don't approve of what is being said, then also take down access to Youtube, Twitter and Facebook. That only makes sense.
This is no way to help the country come together. This is very upsetting to over half the country.

Perhaps once he leaves the white house, Trump will either fund parler's server, or just outright buy the site.
Parler's "server" is hosted on the Amazon web services (AWS). Amazon employees are petitioning to end that. So, the server will soon be in some incel's basement in Michigan.

It's interesting how folks only want businesses to be able to make their own decisions when it comes to refusing to make cakes for gay people. Then they think they're being "Patriots" when it comes to forcing businesses to give a platform, preferably for free, to facilitate domestic terrorism intended to subvert democracy.
