I strongly disagree with the forgiveness part - if they are going to forgive that, what about other bills and responsibilities that people have? They should be forgiven, too - no picking one over the other.
I support pausing payments, as rent and other things were paused.
A VERY small percentage of americans have student loan debt. Many more have CC debt, car payments, rents and mortgages.
An office secretary making $40,000/year and with only a HS diploma will now lend a hand to help pay off college loan for her boss/manager with a BA and earning $80,000/year

Sounds like those that were responsible and paid themselves get the shaft. Congrats for paying your debt — now we are taking your tax money to pay for those that weren’t as responsible.

Yep its not like Obama increased the National Debt more then every other President in our History Combined and left it to Trump and his successors to deal with it. Now that would have been insane if that happened.
Student debt is an outgrowth of failed policy and is a huge burden on millions of Americans who are unable to achieve home ownership or invest in ways that would benefit them and the greater good. Canceling a part of this debt would be a tremendous economic stimulus with the benefits cascading throughout the economy and aiding everyone, not just the ones who got the debt forgiven.

Or even worse: The 45-year-old office secretary making $60,000 in a prestigious law office (legal secretaries get paid more, generally) will help pay off the first $10,000 of undergrad loans for the brand-new 25-year-old associate, earning $175,000 right off the bat and poised to earn $300,000 within a few years.

Or what about the 22-year-old new college graduate who paid for college through a combination of part-time work and academic scholarship, and borrowing $6,000 for her the new car she needed to buy for her job upon graduation? She has to pay off the $6,000 for the car, when she would have been better off just borrowing the $6,000 for college tuition and using her savings for the car.
I approve. The next generation is going to be saddled with so much debt thanks to Trump, the least that we can do is forgive a mere $10K in debt for them.
They will be paying our social security after all.
I approve too, but only if I get my $10k for begin responsible and making real sacrifices to pay off my loans.
I'm sorry college kids will have debt. Most people will. How is it fair they take from us to give to them? College kids in the past paid their college tuition. It's called responsibility and learning how to manage your money. Oh well, here comes socialism. It was expected so really no surprise.
Y'all, buckle down. This is just the beginning. We ain't seen nothing yet. Trump giveth and Biden taketh away. Why in the world anyone voted for Biden is beyond me. I know dead people voted. With the things Biden wants to do they will probably rise from the dead.
