A thoughtful piece from Jason Whitlock, as it appears the cultural left intends to double and triple down on "Republicans are deplorables who should be cancelled en masse" in the wake of the Capitol Hill protest this week.
That the entire 75 million who voted for a Republican president are Trump supporters.
While the political landscape is divisive, the vast majority is still moderate on both sides. It implies far left to Democrats and far right as Republicans is false. No different from equating the storm of Capitol as a Republican motivated insurrection while BLM is a Democratic event. Author is playing to the divisiveness jsut like POTUS of the past years. ... ignoring that the real majority are moderates.
I don't believe that the minorities of both far ends should have whatever say so in government.... however we should take what they say under consideration... what happened a few days ago should further delegitimize their voice. I firmly believe you don't negotiate with terrorists or threats... that's what Trump supporters (not Republicans) are at the moment.

Never heard of this Jason Whitlock but if he thinks that everyone on the left side of the spectrum wants to cancel all Republicans he is surely wrong. There are still a great many silent moderates that lean more to the center and want to preserve the stability of our Union through peaceful means.

I think that 'everyday' Republicans are now finding themselves in the same place 'everyday Democrats' were in the summer.
Most Democrats might have supported the daytime protests for social justice but they did not support the destruction, violence that would descend in the evening. BUT conservative pundits in particular, promoting their agenda, kept repeating nonsense that implied ALL Trump critics/liberals/Democrats supported this kind of criminal behavior.
Now we have the mob who stormed the Capitol. They had pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, they spread their bodily wasted, they trashed our House.....and folks are implying Trump fans/Republicans/conservatives all supported this.
They don't.
Most do not support. They may try to explain why maybe this isn't as bad or that they heard from a misinformed politician that there was some deep conspiracy or blah blah -- but they do not support the actions.
My best friends are Republicans/conservatives and we get along fine. We go away on week ends, we have dinners together, we share our lives without any conflict. I know they aren't represented well by that mob, Trump, etc.
The assertion in the title thread is accurate and true, imo. We need to learn to empathize with those unlike ourselves and watch out for one another, even if we don't agree on ideology. I don't need to read an article in the Blaze to know this is true.
Having said that, what good is an internet forum for discussing politics and controversies if you can't use it to unleash your dark, zero-sum tendencies? That's entertainment folks.

I wish this were the case, but a LOT of moderates suddenly are made to feel like extremists because they're okay with free speech, questioning the narrative, against cancel culture, and like to point out the hypocrisies.
I'm not even sure what moderate means anymore because all too often it sounds like "keeping your mouth shut while they make some radical changes".
