The DoJ, FBI and HSA seem to be reporting to Pence now, their heads I think are mostly "acting" ones and not the Trump appointed ones that he asked to resign. So they probably don't feel the authority to hold a press conference representing their departments.

Pence might hold a press conference if he decides to take action with the 25th amendment.
The FBI web site has some limited information about who they've picked up. Twitter posts about how long guns, pipe bombs, etc. have been found in the Capitol, but no official word.

A Trump press conference would indeed be a disaster. Even sitting down with a friendly interviewer could go off the rails in a hurry given that:

- The vaccination rollout has hit some snags, and Covid numbers are surging.

- 3 million fewer jobs than when he took office.

- His peeps, at his urging, had the predicted "wild time" at the Capitol.

Trump doesn’t need social media to communicate. Every legitimate news outlet in the country would happily and eagerly turn out if he announced a press conference in the wake of the domestic terrorist attacks on the Capitol.

If he can’t communicate in person with the blank canvas a live mic represents as opposed to only being able to work within the confines of a 280 character limit, there is a much larger problem that needs to be addressed. All of the solutions to the country’s problems will not fit on bumper stickers.

There is also the chance that real reporters might ask, you know, real questions requiring real answers. Trump obviously doesn’t care to risk that, since a lot of them probably could not be answered without Donnie incriminating himself.

You honestly don't know what is going on? You sincerely want Trump to explain it to you?

A megalomaniac held a rally of angry people next to the thing that they were angry about and then a small percent of them forced their way in - apparently with the help of the police at times. The rioters should be charged with crimes.

The event is over, for days.

The media is saying it is comparable to Pearl Harbor where 2,000+ people died getting us into a war where 420,000 Americans died. Meanwhile, that same media was very kind to Democrats storming into the Kavanaugh hearings and very supportive of nonstop leftist riots in 2020. You'd like the double standard media explanation better than the White House explanation.

It's insane that we haven't heard from the FBI. Everyone is trying to CYA. I've heard statements that they had no idea this was coming which is total BS. Barbara Starr, Pentagon reporter at CNN, tweeted out that morning that her sources were warning of violence in DC that day.

There needs to be a top to bottom accounting. Heads should be rolling.

His team had said he would be putting out a video statement and then once he got booted off twitter cried that now he had no way to do so as if he didn't have a whole press corps and briefing room. I wonder if they have him sedated. He's going to the border tomorrow so we'll see if he says anything.

I'm sure Trump's lawyers have advised him to remain silent.

They've probably been telling him to do that for four years, at least on certain topics. Why would he start listening now?

We'll see if he makes any statements when he goes to the border tomorrow.

Likely however Trump remains his own worst enemy.

It's time to apply Ockham's razor: Trump called on his supporters to show up in DC to protest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College & Biden’s victory. When addressing the demonstration during a speech, he encouraged people present to march toward the Capitol.

A mob that invaded the Capitol building forced both chambers to halt their debate of the Electoral College results & lawmakers to flee to secure locations. Five people died amid the riots, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick & Ashli Babbitt, a female rioter shot by a different Capitol Police officer.

Americans need to hear the truth. The very last place one can expect that is from a Trump administration Press Conference.

Let's face it, from day 1 Bannon framed Trump's campaign as a 'deconstruction of the administrative state’. This is its end game, this is what it looks like.

He's going to Alamo, Texas. What an appropriate name for a place to make a last stand.

I'm all in favor of Trump remaining silent (for the first time) and receding into an inactive state for his remaining days of being an ersatz president. Or he can play golf everyday, if he wants. He'd better get in a lot of that, as I don't know of any prisons that have golf courses. On another note, it's sickly humorous how many of his supporters think he's thrown them all under the bus, by telling them he's accepted that Biden has won and that a peaceful transition of power will take place. They put all their eggs in one basket and now they've all been tripped by their false hero and fallen.
