All of the globalists alive today come from a nation and many of those people are proud of that association. When they become megalomaniacs and start working with others to take over the world, or to accumulate power in a way that effectively will result in the eradication of nations as the primary unit of power and government, then they become globalists.
There is nothing benevolent or humane about globalism. Internationalism allows for accommodation of different cultural values, languages, history, religions, etc. in a way that globalism flatly is not interested in even trying to do. Globalism is a totalitarian Orwellian nightmare that these elitist megalomaniacs want to impose on EVERYONE, whether they want it or not - because they get to be in charge.
Everyone else can suffer, die or whatever, they literally could not care less, except to the extent that it is their long-term goal to reduce the Earth's population to about 500 million from over 7 billion today. So actually they do care, in that a lot of people dying by whatever means would be real "progress" in the eyes of these so-called "progressives".
Not only are you wrong about Orwell, you are even wrong about the goals of globalism. I can just as easily argue that the end goal of globalism would be to turn the planet into a super-duper giant, planet-wide-city techno-civilization containing trillions of people.

Orwell was thinking of Stalinism in the Soviet Union. He didn't blame the totalitarianism on socialism, he blamed it on Stalin. I think he was wrong, I think Stalin did his best to create a good society, but it is not something that can be forced.
In 1984, the rulers are evil just because they love to have power. I don't think that's why Stalin was evil.

I forget where I read 1984, recently, but it did not require a reader, and it was free. There are a lot of websites where you can read the classics for free.
What did he have to say about globalism, which is the alternative to internationalism? And most people do not use the term nationalism the way that Orwell did in your quote above. Most people are just proud of their country, or at least want to be, and identify with it as citizens of their nations have for thousands of years.
There is nobody that is advocating isolationism, by the way. So I hope nobody will try to associate nationalism with that. And anyone who tries to make nationalism in this country (as opposed to globalism) as being about racism is a lying liar and not one thing more.
The problem is that SOME nationalists believe European/Western culture is superior to other cultures. And SOME of them equate European culture with light colored skin.
So healthy normal nationalism can shade into white nationalism. And most people don't want to think carefully enough to sort this all out.
The "left's" hatred of Western culture helped to inspire Trumpism.
Orwell was not the language police. Different groups use those words in different ways.
