You need CNC and robotic programmers, those machines need to be made, fixed, and operated. What IS destroying the U.S manufacturing industries is unequal workforce and environmental regulations which have given communist and third world countries unfair competitive advantages that no shoreside company can compete with. THIS IS OUR COMPLAINT.

EDIT : in ending, you progressives want to worry about global warming and the environment, fine. Then stop being a bunch of hypocrites and enforce the same laws you enforce on our own workforce as you do for imports. Nothing gets me more than a smug progressive elitist rambling on about the environment from their iphone.
Let me see if I can explain this again.

Automation does indeed create higher paying jobs. But those who can only read at a 6th grade level or lower, 54% of American adults, are unlikely to get a crack at those CNC and robotic programming jobs.

As to the poor workforce and environmental regulations in third world countries being the cause of dissatisfaction, not sure what it is you want done here. How does this translate into an attempt to overthrow the government?

To be fair, they worry that their brains won't get enough oxygen and they are already having trouble putting two and two together.

Underneath all this there are some things to think about, like: structural change in the US economy and labor force, the decline of Industrial Unions, and the subprime mortgage crisis, to name a few.
Unions have been greatly diminished under republican rule. But they are still many unions left. Unions are for the middle class. They will take any novice person and pay them while they are being trained in fields such as electricians, plumbers, construction workers and many more. And these professions make a lot of money.
