They did not. But what we now know is democrats are not and never really were against discrimination and segregation. It was all a means to an end to gain absolute power and control.

Of course they don't have absolute power in the Executive or Congress yet. They haven't been seated into office yet. Democrats can do and get pretty much whatever they want over conservatives as it is already though. If they want to discriminate against, deplatform or prosecute a non-Democrat there's nothing much to stop them.
