People familiar with his thinking are floating a position. If it flies, Mitch will confirm it.

McCarthy says he will not ask any Republican to abstain from voting against impeachment. So he's not taking names and kicking arses.

Must have been something Pence told them.

More horrific details are coming out by the day of how close we came to a real disaster. Trump continues to fan the flames. Donors are abandoning them.

The tide is turning. By the time this gets to the Senate there will be more than enough Republicans onboard.

McConnell states impeachment will "help rid the party of Trump and Trumpism".

Wow, that's gonna leave a mark.

This article does note, he hasn't announced which way he'll vote on the impeachment.

McConnell for the most part has stood by the President.
But Trump is a crazy lose Cannon, and could only ultimately damage the GOP...so I would imagine McConnell and other GOP Senators are drawing a sigh of relief (at least in private) that
Trump is leaving....but I doubt McConnell really wants to impeach him.

Yup. Lets not pretend McConnell grew a spine or developed principles. But - I'll take it. Doing the right thing for the wrong reason is better than the other way around.

Come on. It's all symbolism and grandstanding. He knows Trump is out anyway. lol You think he would have said that before November last year? Nope!

And guess what, doesn't matter. McConnell's lock on Kentucky is so strong, he will still get votes from Kentucky after he's buried and gone.

People have short memories. This won't matter a hill o' beans to his political career. He's top dog.

And nothing is stopping the turtle from turning again. They all do it. It's politics.
