Ridiculous.

Facebook on Monday issued a warning to employees urging them to avoid wearing company T-shirts and other branded products in public after the social media platform suspended President Trump’s account late last week in the wake of deadly rioting at the U.S. Capitol.

“In light of recent events, and to err on the side of caution, global security is encouraging everyone to avoid wearing or carrying Facebook-branded items at this time,” Facebook told employees in an internal memo obtained by The Information, a technology news site.

The Information reported that the social media company’s security team posted the memo to an internal workplace board accessible by more than 56,600 employees.

Wearing a facebook shirt is like wearing an AOL shirt

What's ridiculous about it?

Global security often provides guidance on safety to employees. It's not new.

I don't blame them for not wanting their employees to be targets.

The sooner you claim to be a victim the sooner people believe you are a victim.

Keep yelling it loudly and proudly, and you'll be accepted as a victim... even if there's no bogeyman.

Twitter, Facebook and all the other social media apps just got banned in Uganda ahead of their vote.

Seems some government accounts got "closed" ahead of elections by these social media apps so the government shut them down.

Now you know why "GLOBAL" security sent out the message

And Twitter's response: (I can shut you down but you can't shut me down ???)
Ahead of the Ugandan election, we're hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps.

We strongly condemn internet shutdowns – they are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the #OpenInternet.

It just gets better. Do these Twits at Twitter even understand what they are typing vs what they have done ?

More from Twitter public policy:

"Access to information and freedom of expression, including the public conversation on Twitter, is never more important than during democratic processes, particularly elections."
