I think the impeachment hurt the Republicans. They lost Congressional seats. But the affair hurt Gore. People were tired of the general Clinton sleaze. In 2020 a lot of people were tired of the general Trump drama.

How did he even run a second time if he had already been impeached , anyway?
Think of it as his second DUI.

Besides losing his ability to run for office again, losing his salary, he also won’t have access to the intelligence briefings. That for me is the biggest reason he needs to be impeached and never allowed in government again.

This is just the beginning, the Republican party has a really big problem. Part of the reason y’all won was because of Trump and his band of loonies. Those loonies now identify as Republicans so good luck getting them out of your party. Most real conservatives independents like myself won’t go no where near that hornets nest till they are Long gone or they form their own party. Look for Thump Jr and Alex Jones 2024

Wrong.

Because hating a choice someone made doesn’t require hating the person.

Which is incorrect.

He can still run for public office again.

An impeachment is merely a charge of wrongdoing; think of it as an indictment. Whether a federal official is guilty of said charge is decided by the Senate.

In Trump's case, he could theoretically be impeached, removed from office, and still run for reelection and become president for a second term if he wins.

He wasn't convicted in the Senate in the first trial. The point this time is to get the house and senate to go along, so that he can never run for president again (currently, he's still eligible to run in 2024, ala Grover Cleveland)

This is why he's being impeached and hopefully removed in the senate this time. He should never be allowed to run for any office ever again, just like he's banned from ever having any kind of grifter foundation ever again.

Congress can not turn a blind eye to Trump's crime of trying to over throw a legitimate election. It doesn't matter if he did it one day before he leaves office. He must be held accountable, and the only remedy is impeachment.
