Absolutely.

If Mcconnell goes along with this, it will break the GOP.

I for one will wash my hands of Republicans.

Maybe this could end up being a good thing if it creates an actually viable third party though.

Libertarians: are you paying attention?

Now is the time to stop the infighting and lose the crazy parts of your platform like open borders and namby pamby foreign policy.

Then maybe you can actually get off the ground if you can find an electable candidate.

No he won't. The vast majority of republicans aren't kooks like the ones that stormed the Capital. The Rep party was fine before Trump and will be fine after he's gone.

The Republican Party is going to have to change to reflect modern day values. With the historic election of the first President of color, caused the racist wing of the Republican party to move further right. After Trump was elected President (due to Russian interference), that caused the left wing to panic and dig their heels deeper to the left. So now as a result, both left and right are miles apart. The only way to unite is for the Republicans to abandon their racist, sexist, anti-lgbtqia mentality and move further to the center. People want to see a bi-partisan, agreeable and civil leadership in our government where the elected officials serve the people.

They're going to abandon anyone who doesn't buy into their extremist bull**** conspiracy theories anyways. McConnell got what he wanted, judges and deregulations.

Many people only voted Republican so Trump would have support in enacting his policies. Republicans for the most part have not put Americans welfare first, and if they go back to their old ways will not get those voters back. While there are a few good Republicans in the House and Senate, there aren't enough of them.

Trump didn't make anyone believe anything they didn't already believe. I have no idea what modern-day values even means. Keep in mind most democrats are minorities who are actually more socially-conservative than most Republicans. They only vote for Democrats for freebies/benefits/privileges.

The only thing that sustains the Democratic party is identity-politics.

Mitch has been doing this longer than most of us has been alive. He's not acting out of compassion or principle, he's made a calculation that MAGAts are now more harm than good and is acting accordingly.

He probably assumes people will forget about it by 2022 and that the finances aren’t there to primary these senators up for re-election but we’ve seen time and time again how badly the support for this Trump movement has been underestimated. It’ll end up being a mistake if they go through with it for sure

What's the alternative? Condone sedition and terrorism? The MAGA coup exposed the Republican party for what it was. Confederacy 2.0

Rebuild the party. The MAGAs can start their own party led by Jared Kushner.
