I suggest you read the oath they take.

Yeah, after all there was one single shot fired during the dangerous armed insurrection (a Capitol Policeman killing a small unarmed woman).

Why not go 250,000 troops? Is that even enough - apparently a civil war is upon us.

Ultimately, they are under oath to protect and defend the Constitution...however if/when the 'Govt' tramples on that Constitution...the 'Govt' becomes the threat.

**I do get that this is 'tricky'...but I imagine the original 13 colonies went thru something similar, a certain percentage of the colonists BELIEVED England was now the enemy, (their own Govt at the time)...they were technically domestic terrorists.

It is in the reply chain here. It's been in posts about the one protester/rioter who was shot dead. It's happened a lot. It's in the post above this one.

We are sort of at an 'impasse' right now...

One side believes what you posted, the group was a mob attempting to overthrow our govt...the other side believes they were patriots and fully justified for taking this action. where do we go from here is the question?

This same scenario happened during the American Revolution...a certain percentage of colonists believed in kicking the English Monarchy out and forming their own nation...the other side believed they should remain loyal to England...They fought a bloody, brutal war as a result...

In the end though, America WON...those that believed the colonies should remain loyal to England were out of luck, they would go down in history as being WRONG.

As far as I know, there are NO groups out there today that believe England should have won.

No it's not. You are trying to take over a Federal Building with a full legislature having a full legal session inside. People with guns, zip ties, ammo, mace....They should have all been shot. I don't understand why people can't understand you cannot do these things without major consequence's??

But I think in this case it is a stretch to say the riot was a plan and attempt to replace the government by force. Any rioting against the government is rebellion really whether 4+ years of BLM and Antifa or this one riot.

Maybe that is not very applicable. We proved this summer, that treating people rioting, looting and burning, with the kid gloves, and I'm referring to the handling of the BLM and antifa barbarians, they still continued to behave like barbarians.
