During the entire series of events Wednesday, only one single shot was fired. That shot was fired by a Capitol City Policeman at close range and killed an unarmed women(Ashli Babbitt) in broad daylight while she was attempted to leap through a barricade in the Capitol Building. A recently arrested (civil disorder, presence in a restricted area, disorderly conduct) BLM member/left wing activist named John Sullivan was less than 10 feet away from her and filmed the incident - one can view on youtube. There were no physical altercations between officers and protesters at this location.
The US Capitol Police employee who shot Babbitt has been placed on administrative leave and their police powers have been suspended pending a joint Metro Police and USCP investigation, USCP said.
(It is also true that four others died Wednesday including three [presumably] Trump supporters of medical issues [heart attack, etc.] and one capital police officer under unclear circumstances reportedly resulting in a stroke after returning back to his office.)
At the same time:
THE 20,000 NATIONAL Guard troops preparing for pro-Trump demonstrations this weekend in the nation's capital will be armed and permitted to use lethal force, the headquarters overseeing them says, marking a striking escalation in the way authorities there are preparing for repeat violence after last week's deadly mob. https://www.usnews.com/news/national...termath-of-mob
Overreaction to the riot is an effective way to brainwash the good lemmings of America into a state of fear that only your Democratic Party can save one from.
The poor National Guard initially has to sleep on the floor.
They are now thankfully offering them hotel rooms.
There also should be plenty of college dorms empty due to Covid which can be used if needed.
My main concern is for the troops and not the politicians, indeed it's bad enough having to sleep on the marble floors, without Nancy Pelosi making a speech to welcome you.
After the first significant attack on the Capitol since the war of 1812, and with continuous chatter on every wavelength and in every dark web chat room suggesting that violent protests are coming, it's not an over-reaction. In fact you'd have to ask yourself if it is sufficient to deter some of the paranoid freaks on the Neo-fascist Right from seeing how far they would get. We'll see.
The left keeps screaming about gun control to keep “weapons of war” off of the streets. Now they’re putting 20,000 weekend warriors armed with real weapons of war onto the streets of our nation’s Capitol. Beside the impropriety and hypocrisy, what are they so afraid of? Surely they’re not frightened by a bunch of rednecks carrying their squirrel guns, are they?
All of these “soldiers” to keep things in lockdown sorta invalidates the claim of a “win”.
