I am baffled by those who compare the Capitol mob with the riots this past summer. I grant that they are two different forms of rioting. The biggest difference and the one that makes irrelevant any comparison is that the Capitol building riot was a product of a rally featuring the president of the United States, the leader of the free world. That's what makes it individually historic.

It was actually a combination of a couple of factors. One factor was two months of Trump proclaiming the election was rigged and there was widespread voter fraud that kept him from being named the election winner by a landslide margin. The second factor was the rally where Trump told his followers to go to the Capitol building. They may someday find that there was some pre-arranged plan to go to the Capitol building but without Trump's two months of inciteful proclamations the riot would never have happened. Making the Capitol riot entirely different than the riots of the summer.
If we want to know what really happened, wait for the SNL skit. Alec Baldwin will play the horned guy, and Matt Damon can be the black guy that was just there to document it.
Roger Stone, long time political operative, convicted felon whose sentence was commuted by Trump last year, originated “ Stop the Steal” during the 2016 Primaries. At the same time Trump frequently communicated if he did not get the nomination his followers would riot and become violent.
Stone created a Stop the Steal web site which inspired the creation of various Face Book groups.
Once the 2016 nomination was secured, Stop the Steal targeted the 2016 election. Meanwhile, Trump was communicating if he loses, it would be the result of a rigged system, including the unconstitutional Electoral College. There was a lot of online chatter about an armed revolution if Trump lost the 2016 election.
There are hundreds of examples of Trump subsequently referring to the violence that would happen if / if not Fill in the Blank that persisted into the 2020 Election.
Trump consistently stoked the fire.
Not clear what Trump thought would happen when he set the dogs loose on The Capital. I cannot imagine Trump imagined the invasion that followed his 1/6 rally.
Why did he not accompany his base as he said he would? Why did he instead retreat to the WH? And what did he do for hours that was more important than stoping the siege? What was going on while Congress Critters and aides were desperately begging for help from him, his Chief of Staff, his Cabinet, the Pentagon, Ivanka, Jarret and even Kellyanne who no longer worked for Trump.
Did you see the worst part? They were praying .. the left hates that !!

I believe in God. I am a Christian... I am a Democrat.
I left the Republican party years ago because I could not with conscience vote for the GOP anymore.
It's really sad that you think this is God's way and that these people are Christians....
These poor, lost people are not representatives of the "moral majority".

It doesn't mention hate, violence, murder and insurrection. Does it?

The VIDEO is twelve minutes. And as angering as the video is - it also has some excellent pictures of the rioters and probably eliminates many of their defenses where they try to say they just walked around innocently.
By the way - a couple of blocks in downtown Seattle is not the same as our nation's Capitol building. Not even close. These are clearly not "peaceful protesters" building a gallows.
And Cruz is probably not loving their impression that Cruz wants them to do what they are doing.
No it's not. Still the same thing though, they took over part of a city to get what they wanted. Didn't the mayor or something like that have to move because of the harassment?
