Wonder how that will play out.
Liz Cheney and the other establishment, Bush/Romney never-Trump types were expected to make an effort to try to re-establish themselves as the soul of the Republican party after Trump left office. If Cheney gets the boot from the Republican House leadership team as a result of her vote on impeachment, that will be a serious loss and a rebuke to that effort.

The fact is that the vast majority of Republican voters support the Trump agenda, regardless of whether Trump is leading it or not. At the same time, many of the Republican leadership types in Washington just want to promote and advance themselves within the Washington establishment elite, which the Trump agenda is contrary towards.

So it looks like either the Republican leaders need to rustle up a new base of support for the advancement of their selfish establishment elite aspirations, or the Republican base needs to find a way to get some new leaders in Washington who are committed to representing and supporting the aspirations of their constituents.

The ouster of Liz Cheney from the Republican House leadership team would be a big move in support of the latter of these two options.

While Cheney isn't ethical, she isn't stupid either. She had to know that pulling such a stupid stunt while pretending to represent her constituents in Wyoming would be the end of her career as a republican. Maybe she's got a gig lined up at CNN. That's where many duplicitous politicians end up.

Maybe she thinks causing an insurrection to stop the democratic process is an impeachable offense.

We will see about that but it's nice to see a republican stand up and support the constitution. Slightly less republicans than the 130 republicans that objected to the vote on Jan 6. Sad day for the republican party. McConnell made similar statements, anyone who supports facts is gone from the republican party, what's left won't be pretty.

I could be mistaken, but I do not believe she was expecting this.

Despite the Republican establishment never-Trump group being a miniscule percentage of the right, and most of those people openly supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this election, they seem to believe that they are the rightful and natural leaders of the Republican right. In their minds, they seemed to believe that if they could just get Donald Trump out of the picture, then they would just step in and take over control and back we go to the Bush/Romney years, just like that.

I think these people have been fooling themselves about all of that in rather dramatic fashion. If I am right about all if this, Liz is probably quite stunned by this rebuke, not only because it will likely end her political career, but also because of what it appears to portend for the establishment neocon Bush Romney never-Trumper plans for re-establishing themselves as the ideological leaders of the party.

The stunt was the republican senators and house members that supported Cruz and Hawley on Jan 6, no one with half a brain really believed there would be a 10 day audit. You should respect integrity, in short supply in the republican party.

She shouldn't be removed for her vote that's up to her constituents but she should be removed from leadership and replaced with someone who represents the caucus.

That is what they are working to do. Nobody has proposed evicting her from her congressional seat, only from her Republican leadership position in the House Caucus.
