If anything spreads disunity, it would be his party's desire to keep attacking and damaging former President Trump even after he's left office. What exactly IS their point in trying to strip away from Trump, the usual post-Presidential perks of his pension, limited travel expenses, and even Secret Service protection, that all past Presidents have received for a century?

The hatred of extremist Democrats for President Trump is clear. But Democrats won, and he is out of office. How exactly to they expect to benefit by tarring and feathering him and running him out of town, stripped of all the usual post-Presidency perks and even the usual bodyguards that might keep him alive in the midst of Democrats such as the ones who rioted, burned cities, murdered police and civilians for months on end last summer, most of whom have never been arrested?

More importantly, how will the country benefit from their slashing and attacking him even after he's out of office?

What, exactly, is the Democrat party's purpose for doing it, beyond their own personal hatred and petty vindictiveness?

Especially after slapping a quick impeachment against him, and jamming the vote through before the FBI even had time to reveal that the only charge against him ("inciting an insurrection") was false from the start, the rioters having made plans to attack the Capitol several days before Trump even made the speech and tweets that supposedly "incited" them?

It's not only the Dems, Robo....Repubs joined in too. With the 10 who have already joined the Dems, just 17 Senators are needed for conviction. Save some ire for Moscow Mitch.... ask why he refused to convene the Senate early to take up the article. Was it perhaps to intentionally give the process to the new Dem controlled Senate...?
Mitch has already thrown Trump under the bus....(see below) now he just ran him over. Now, the Dems need to take the wheel of the bus and back over him just for good measure. After all the harm he's inflicted on others, IMO he deserves nothing less.
I started to quote "an eye for an eye", but the proverb below seems to fit better.

'The Mob Was Fed Lies': McConnell Rebukes Trump For His Role In Capitol Riot

Proverbs 13:3
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

Interesting. Apparently not a single liberal on the board wants to discuss the 180-degree difference between their new President's call for Unity as the most important goal of the nation, and their own hate-filled agenda of destroying the former President as viciously as they can even after he's left office.

Not hard to figure out why. Democrats have never dared to admit what they really want - they know nobody would ever vote for them if the people knew the truth about them.
