I think that Trump is a petty little man has been on display for years, don't see why the latest example should make much difference.

Yes it was weak, but no it won't hurt him. No one expected anything different. Trump is Trump and its all baked into the cake.

The inauguration is about the country as a whole, but it is also about the incoming president. I don't think Biden wanted him there. Also, it might have taken some of the focus off of Biden to have cameras and commentary focusing on what Trump would be doing.

Trump dug his own hole and that was just the best choice left.

I suspect you are right.

His departure rally was a small, sad gathering. Maybe 200 including reporters, and tearful family members.

He was followed on the plane by his grown kids and their significant others, a visual reminder that taxpayers are picking up the tab for their Secret Service protection for the next six months.

Liberals said he would be in jail as soon as he left office... Right now he's cashing in his 200K presidential pension and enjoying lifelong secret service for his entire family, paid by you.

The inauguration is about the peaceful transition of power.

That's why it is worthwhile having the outgoing President as a visible reminder of that.

After the way that he was treated for 4 years despite his incredible success, why would he even consider going? DC is a haven for the corrupt in-crowd of swap rats.

As someone who voted for Trump, I found his absence at Biden's inauguration to be petty. Democrats have turned this country into a banana republic with their incessant bickering and whining. I was hoping Trump would take the high road and not stoop to the level of the Dems.

It won't bite him in the future, because he has no future in politics. The last 4 years shows what happens when an outsider tries to make legitimate change in D.C. They're vilified unfairly and thwarted at every turn - sometimes by their own party. Old school dirty politics is here to stay.

When has Trump ever taken the high road?

I have a feeling some of his brood thought they'd be elevated into a dynasty, Bush or Kennedy style. If Trump's churlishness kept that from happening, good.
