No - but I'm not as susceptible to fake news as are conservatives. Just judging from the number that were willing to storm the capitol and the number of them that believe in "Q".
I think it's important to note that when Alex Jones or anyone else spreads nonsense that these guys like...
He's a "truth teller"...
But when he goes so far over the top that these guys can't defend it...
Even the detractors, such as you, agree it's "mainstream".
It's called "mainstream" because it consists of (1) the outlets that used to hold a monopoly on TV broadcasting and (2) the outlets that have the same political agenda as NBC, CBS, and ABC. They are "mainstream" because they flow from that earlier monopoly and are bundled with all sorts of things and imposed on us without our choice. They are the sources that anyone who does not think independently relies on by default.
It has nothing to do with truth or trustworthiness. They're trusted simply because people don't know any better.

You explained it better than I could. Very well said
A couple things come to mind. Could not Jones simply go bankrupt and then form a new media company that would be protected from these lawsuits? And second I would expect this would go up to the SCOTUS as a 1st amendment issue.
The likelihood that this case ends up at the SCOTUS is about 0.004%. It is well established that the First Amendment does not protect someone from a defamation suit. Appeal to SCOTUS is not a matter of right - they only take a fraction of the cases people ask them to take. There would be no reason for them to review a case where the constitutional principles are not in doubt. I see that the First Amendment could in theory be implicated because a court of law imposing damages against a defendant for defamation, slander, libel, etc., is government action on account of speech. However, the First Amendment is not unconditional, which is why people can file suits for defamation.

What it is is a radio ENTERTAINER expressing an opinion that outraged a bunch of people. Don Rickles was famous for offending. Another entertainer. Lots of entertainers say lots of stupid things. If you don't want to hear it, simply don't turn the radio on. That's what I do--not turn it on during that segment. Having the choice works well.
Jones presents his publications as fact. Not as entertainment. Not as opinion. There truly is a big difference. Someone cannot sue the Onion for false reporting because it markets itself as satire. Therefore it is not presenting its pieces as fact. Jones does.

One of the worn-out tactics of the ultra right is false equivalency run amok.
Maybe he can imply fellow psycho conspirator Marjorie Green as part of his insanity defense.
That would make it an inanity defense.
