They were plenty proud on the morning of January 6. "it's our 1776" and all that.

But it turns out the rest of the country didn't perceive them as heroic patriots, but as sad, deluded LARPers so now it's "oh I don't even know those guys!"

The minimizing is already well underway though. Ignore the videos of police officers being beaten and attacked with bear spray. Ignore the police officers own statements on video describing what happened to them. This was just a few people wandering around a building.

In two more weeks they'll say it was five people on a guided tour.
