Back in the late 90s I had to fill out some paper work, had to do with my mom's passing --- on one of the documents it asked occupation, in which I put, housewife. The woman said to me, 'it must be tough being married to a house'.

I use to sign the checks I wrote Mrs. ___ like my mother did, being married to my dad, they being of the silent generation ---- Until the day came (late 90s) there was an issue --- how do we know you are Mrs ____ ?

Society changed and didn't ask me if they could? PS: they also failed to inform me before I embarrassed myself.

Yep. And I dont get why they aren't including dads, or grands or other relatives who are caring for children when they speak of unseen or unpaid labor.

it's got to have been harder for black moms than white moms, Biden needs to do the right thing, these white moms are living a life of privilege, I wouldn't give them a dime.

you also have to be eligible to receive SS

A friend wanted to receive SS via her ex-husband, but since she was employed by the state of texas school district and they do not get SS - she couldn't even claim it against his account

And yea more than one person/spouse can claim it.

Might not be too late for you!

So if this passes, how about reparations for all the moms (and dads, too) who did childcare duties for free in the past? Wow, for just one child, figuring 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, for 18 years (minimum) at $10 an hour equals $1,051,200. Even if you subtract the hours spent in school, that is one heck of "gift" if one is not paid for it! So if this passes, how many women who did this job for free will be demanding THEIR check?!

And, btw, raising a teen is MUCH more difficult than changing diapers, in my experience.

Don't want to be a parent and make all the sacrifices that entails? Then don't have kids!

It would depend on the "mom." Contrary to what the media tells you, not all white people are upper-middle class living in the suburbs.

This may be one of the more ridiculous ideas put forth, and that's saying a lot these days.

Once again, a generalization. When will people realize that having difficulty in life is more a matter of income and education than it is a matter of skin color?!

No one can persuade me that a high school dropout white mom on SNAP with an occasional part-time job has it easier than a black female who has a college degree and a six-figure income.
