As the saying goes, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. I don't think there's anything intrinsically wrong with the label "China virus". But when Trump follows that up with "China plague" and "Kung flu", he's crossed the line into blatant sinophobia. At that point the denigration needs to go.

I'm offended, offended I tell you, by people who keep referring to Elizabeth II as "The English Queen".

Whether provoking China was warranted or not is a different discussion, but if you can't be honest about why he tried to instill the name China Virus into the vernacular when Covid 19 was already in widespread use, then there's no solid basis for a chat about it.

And they didn't blame Trump for the virus, they blamed Trump for his ill conceived response to such. But you know that too.

Who cares if he was using it to "provoke" China?

He was using it to place the blame where it belongs.

If that "provoked" China........so what?

It's not "racist" like Dems and the Media tried to paint it.

Exactly.

Blatant sinophobia is a no-no thing, only blatant Russofobia is cool.

So why don't we identify it as "Putin's virus" and call it a day.

Factually may be incorrect, but it feels so right.

I'm always taken aback about how people don't understand the difference of using words and the context those words are used in.

Is it willful ignorance or downright stupidity?

Oh poor China! They knew this virus was spreading around their country and stopped people from travelling inside their country. But they were fine with letting infected people travel to other countries where it as killed over a million people. They should feel lucky that the rest of the world has not declared war on them and nuked them back into the stone age.

Actually he was using it to to provoke liberals. Including the liberals (communist in this case) running China.

And from the screams going on in this forum even today, looks like he succeeded handsomely.
