I don't know that it was. The propagandists who spoon feed you your opinions on the matter don't know either.

Free market is great. People can decide who to do business with or not based on all sorts of reasons. I have no problem with people making that choice or using people because they support Trump

This is how is begins. It began this way in all totalitarian regimes. Someone gets ID'd as a problem. They are punished either through shaming or worse. Groups of people condemn them. It was the Jewish people in Germany, it's the Trump supporters In America.
Herd Mentality. It is so dangerous and it moves predictably to remove those persons identified as unworthy. They shame them, then they arrest them then in many cultures they round them up and kill them.
You say "that cannot happen here".
It already is. Step by step. Close down Parler? Just a step. Fire someone for their views? Just another step. By the time it reaches predictable level it's to late to stop it. And Trobesmom and others look the other way or cheer on the steps as righteous and fair.

Trump supporters cheered when a bicyclist was fired for giving Trump's motorcade the middle finger. Now they cry because they - who actually BROKE THE LAW - are held accountable.
When the cyclist was fired, they said "private business can do what they want". But now that private tech companies are concerned that they gave a platform to rioters storming the Capitol and attempting to overturn a presidential election, Trump supporters disagree.
