* Most Europeans rejoiced at Joe Biden’s victory in the November US presidential election, but they do not think he can help America make a comeback as the pre-eminent global leader.

*Europeans’ attitudes towards the United States have undergone a massive change. Majorities in key member states now think the US political system is broken, and that Europe cannot just rely on the US.

*They evaluate the EU and/or their own countries’ systems and others much more positively than that of the US.

*There are geopolitical consequences to American weakness. A majority believe that China will be more powerful than the US within a decade and would want their country to stay neutral in a conflict between the two superpowers.

*The US cannot take European alignment against China for granted. Public opinion will have a bigger effect on the relationship than it once did, and needs to be taken into account.

*Some European states such as Germany are becoming more Pro-Russia, and this is evident in terms of Nord Stream 2 which is now nearing completion. and the election of Pro Russia and China, Armin Laschet to leader of Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) Party. Laschet is now a favourite to take over from Merkel later in the year. The CDU party confrence even had Huawei as a sponsor.

*Germany has been instrumental in helping to forge the new EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment.

*In France Emmanuel Macron is now being beaten in the polls by Marine Le Pen and her National Rally Party, and Le Pen has also has alleged links to Putin.

*Italy is now in political crisis after Italy the break down of it's coalition Government.

*At the same time Biden's 'Buy American initiative' it has not gone down well with many in the EU, whilst EU taxes on tech companies and on-line purchases may lead to further trading disputes. Data sharing is also another area that has become problematic, with the EU now refusing to share personal data with the US due to US spying agencies.

*Defence is a further area in which relations could be strained, with Germany and others being less than enthusiastic about the NATO 2% target, whilst Macron is eager to establish an EU Military forces, as many in Europe believe in a Post-Trump world the US can not be relied upon.

It seems to me that far from entering better relation Post-Trump, even more strained relations may be on the horizon under Biden and the Biden administration itself seems too weak to deal with these mounting problems and I suspect the EU will be laughing behind the backs of Biden and Blinken.

Why would the EU care about the Buy American initiative? What was the government buying from them that it no longer will?

Does the initiative even do anything at all?

Valdis Dombrovskis, the European Union's trade commissioner, is already threatening reciprocity .

The EU is also seeking to accelerate its work on a system of “international procurement instrument”, which could penalise trading partners that do not open their government procurement contracts as much as the European Union does.

Can you blame them? I don't see why any respectable nation would want to have anything to do with our soon-to-be third world toilet here in the US. I'm sure we'll soon be listed on nation-rankings right alongside Honduras, Nicaragua, Somalia, Venezuela, etc.

That's correct ( in bold above ) So. Korea wants China Joe to continue Trump's position on the No. Korea problem and they plan to do so with or without China Joe !!!

Supporting our allies, another lie from China Joe !!!

Moon urges Biden to learn from Trump's N. Korea diplomacy ...

Frankly, I believe that every country and community should be mostly concerned about its own betterment and prosperity.

"Global cooperation" is overrated.

Republicans are so very predictable. Going to great lengths to make the biggest possible mess, then complain that Democrats aren't fixing it on the double.

A realistic path forward would be to align US investment in NATO with the other signees. We're not the economy we once were, so expecting us to still carry a disproportional load is no longer realistic. That being said, there's no need for us to alienate other members over it.
