Biden says if you work for less $15.00/hr for 40 hours a week that you're living below the poverty line.

That's only true if you're the head of a family of five....where the poverty level is $14.50/hr for a full time worker.

If you're single, the poverty line is $6.00/hr for full time, 40 hours a week.

Well below the current minimum wage.

Democrats think raising minimum wage will help people, but it would probably hurt as many as it helps. It hurts businesses, especially the small businesses that suffered from the pandemic. It hurts young people who need entry level jobs, housewives, and old people who need extra income.

Raising minimum wage will also encourage automation. For example, more stores have self-checkout machines. That will only increase if minimum wage is raised.

It would also encourage businesses to pay workers off the books.

Progressives seem to think that if their intentions are good, the results of their policies will be good. They should take a look at the road to hell.

Family of 5? In Biden's America??? Forgetaboutit! In China, you were only allowed one for many decades, because that's all anyone could afford, and the government knew that. Things will be no different for the ordinary American with China Joe in charge. With Biden comes hard times and a great leap backwards for America

Love how the left is eerily quiet on threads like this. They would rather start threads about a man who is no longer in office. Effin pathetic losers.

Biden doesn't say anyone making less than $15/hr is below the poverty line in the article you linked.

The piece many seem to not talk about in raising minimum wage: when low income people get more money, they immediately recirculate it into the economy. Raising minimum wage is more complex than the idea of simply putting a price floor on the supply/demand curve of the wage market. There's a tremendous benefit to the spending and re-investment that the lower classes do when they get more money.
