But not so "down" with cancer that he couldn't run for re-election.

I think what's interesting to me from a medical perspective is that both he and his wife got sick enough from COVID to land in a hospital for treatment. I do believe that it's not always about how you react to the disease as much as what is the total viral load you inhale. When it's a large viral load it overwhelms the immune system. This is where masks can provide some help. You might still get it but the less you breathe in the better your body can handle the onslaught. He seemed to be a non-mask wearer and I would guess that he and his wife got quite the dose when they were infected.

We had another member of C-D pass away several weeks ago. Same thing: both husband and wife got very ill; both passed away.

Can't find the data anymore but there is some correlation with viral load and when you see two people in the same household get really sick like that, chances are that's what got them so ill.

His lung cancer diagnosis, I'm sure, made the illness that much worse.

I doubt he died of lung cancer. Anyone who is late-stage lung cancer on their way out is not getting around much. He was actively voting, present in Congress, in January. He was healthy enough to campaign in the latter part of 2020.

It's likely the cancer made him a higher risk but that is just a guess on my part. Just noting that he had a relatively recent cancer diagnosis.

I don't know if he was or wasn't. If you peruse the Twitter feed on him today, there are clearly pictures of him in gatherings without a mask. Hard to tell taken out of context. Not sure if that makes him "anti-mask" which is different (to me) then just not being as careful as you maybe should be.

Did he still have lung cancer? He had it in 2018 which is now 2021. So how did he die from Lung Cancer if he no longer had it?
