By who? The census? FBI crime statistics? The KKK? Neo-Nazis? Joe Blow? Jim Bob?
The census, govt documents etc. It’s interesting.

Haha! Since when? Since when. There are flamboyantly gay Caribbean people. Not sure how you all assumed their ethnicity, especially since they are from Brooklyn.
Who said Akram knew them personally?

And? He may or may not be. He could be South Asian as well. She just said what he looked like to her.
white crime in NYC is largely limited to white collar crime on wall st. which we're more willing to overlook, which is to say, not physically violent in nature.
as a resident of NYC, I'm not sure why she is not more aware of that.

LOL@ putting things in perspective. I am of Caribbean descent and have lived in the Caribbean. You are not not going to tell me anything about what black immigrants think that I am not aware of firsthand.
The point of my post is that this person is from Brooklyn so there is a good chance that she and her brother are immigrants or children or immigrants. If they are from the Caribbean, some might actually share those feelings as there are people of Middle Eastern descent in the region. You don’t know what her background is and clearly don’t have a clue about the Caribbean. You think all the islands have people rolling around in chopped up trucks with automatic weapons looking to kill them for tribal arguments over a goat? What world are you living in?
Seriously...in what world?
I’m African and that’s not even true of Africa let alone the Caribbean. Now Somali and South Sudanese refugee communities might have some sort of experience with ethnic and tribal warfare. But their not even near the majority of African immigrants (Ethiopians+Ghanaians+Nigerians+Kenyans+South Africans+Egyptians) largely do not have any experience similar to that.

You seem hell-bent on wanting her to be anything other than American black. What’s up with that? Having lived in NYC for 30 years and been to Brooklyn hundreds upon hundreds of times, most black residents there are not recent immigrants. Yes, there are immigrant communities there - and not only from ‘black countries’ - but like I said, they’re not the majority. In any case it’s not really all that relevant, so I’m not sure why you’re making such a big deal over the issue.
Ali Akram is clearly an arabic name. There is a 99.9% chance he is from one of the countries in the link below. If not, his ancestors were. Not sure why it matters so much to you anyway.
Pretty bigoted of her to assume she could only be attacked by whites.
