Seems like it is not done that often without a professional valuation attached. Rarely. It is a red flag and would be noticed by the IRS. Especially if it is that large a write off.
That's what makes it so unusual and so egregious.
Maybe someone (Trump) was trying to cheat on his taxes to get a bigger write off? Not proven yet but I'm guessing it will be.

At least we've put to bed any of the claims that the re-naming wasn't being pushed for political reasons and was specifically denied by the gov. citing that exact reason provided by a Cuomo staffer.

I have not seen the tax return and do not know the status of the that financial document. I am guessing(educated) it is more (much more) than it is worth. I am sure it will be revealed to the public at trial. My guess is based on nytimes and time inc financial reporting.
Of course I could be wrong. I look forward to full transparency.
