Actually 300 per day total --- from a number of entry ports.
These are not individuals who are 'illegal' -- they have applied for asylum status and will be allowed to enter the US and be monitored here while their cases are processed.
It is an odd time but it seems quarantine systems are in place, testing, etc.
300/day is the target so at that rate it will take three months to hit the 25,000K....and the reality is not all those folks will be given asylum status.
Now it seems folks are concerned about the pandemic again. That's a good thing. Glad to see it -- heard it was a hoax again this morning...so maybe now it isn't a hoax again.
Asylum is a BS excuse. Every illiterate non-English speaking, diseased savage uses the asylum excuse. Pardon me but where exactly is the war in South America? Asylum status must end for all.

An eminently valid point! But we should note, that persons who stop at the border and formally ask for asylum are NOT illegals... unless they're denied entry but sneak-in anyway. In other words, the asking for asylum, is not a badge of illegality. It is in fact the very opposite.
Also noteworthy is the scathing denunciation of immigration in general, during the past administration. Stephen Miller and Jeff Sessions are on record, repeatedly seeking to reduce the annual rate of legal immigration, to make it harder to immigrate, and to make it harder for legal immigrants to get on the path towards a green card and eventual citizenship.
In other words, the attitude is NOT "let's all obey the law, and let's give no freebies to law breakers. That stance, by itself, isn't hard to defend. In fact it would be irrational not to defend it. But no, that's not the attitude. Instead the attitude is, "the boat is full".
