Well he is the top health official and doctor for that county so he does have some reason to be quoted in the newspaper. Of course he could be totally biased but if you read the whole article, which is more than 3 sentences, you will get the reasoning behind his statements.
What are the credentials of your source? Are they often quoted as an expert? Maybe they do know a lot more about it.
At least here our major hospital in our region has zero covid patients, yay! I think if the super bowl was going to cause a spike, it would be happening now. As far as “experts” it’s hard to believe any of them anymore.
Are super spreader events even a thing anymore with Biden as President? Even if all the Superbowl parties led to a big spike it would be downplayed by the media so as not to make Joe look bad.

I can give you an on-the-ground report as I was in the Tampa environs twice this past week. Almost no adherence to social distancing. I am amazed. Honestly, I was freaked by it.
