Trump created a leadership void which had to be filled by someone. When faced with a crisis, he appointed his son-in-law and a group of Wall Street executives to form a pandemic response team. It was obvious that this was just a stalling tactic as this group never came up with any product while members of the same community were directing their employees in February to go out and buy up all the supplies which fed the hysteria. In the absence of any credible leadership, Fauci was thrust in the role.

In the end, the lockdowns were necessary in certain regions because healthcare system capacity was overloaded. Leadership at the federal and state level were found wanting. Where were the additional hospital beds? Where were the testing kits? In addition, the fatality rates in the early weeks of the crisis were extremely high at 14%. People are making judgments based on hindsight using current data, not the data that was available at the time. The success of the treatment were nowhere near as successful in the first six months of the crisis as they are now. That should've been obvious from the fact that Trump had to receive experimental treatments when he was sick.

In the end, because of the interconnectedness of the economy and the concentration of business in California and the Northeast, commerce would've been effected just about the same in the rest of the country even if they were exempt from the restrictions.

Fauci is one voice in one country. Fauci explained what the virus was capable of doing as best he knew since it was a novel virus. Fauci gave advice on what could be done to lessen the widespread medical issues in the population. He did not give the final orders. It should be noted that the same economic scenario has played out in every first-world country on earth. Do the people in England and Portugal blame Fauci too? Maybe they blame their chief medical advisor. Or maybe, just maybe they should blame an unknown virus.

Liberals claim to "trust the science" but then get upset when the vaccines haven't done anything to stop the body count. Then they get shocked about COVID mutations, rendering their silver bullet vaccines even less effective.

And how often does the science come to light about Covid?

I'm sorry but Covid has been around for a long time. 19 is a novel strain? Being "New" and all?

I'm just sooooo surprised, as many other people are, how the flu deaths just miraculously didn't happen yet. Or maybe they did but hey, let's keep pushing the Corona agenda.

Ol Fauci is the Deuce Man. 2 masks and 2 vaccines. And didn't he say to not wear masks, and a single vaccine would be sufficient?

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't because there's SO MUCH FALSE INFORMATION that is out there.

And just to put this out there, I hardly ever, EVER wear the mask. Only when I need to because the businesses mandated it. And it was just to gain admission. Once inside, off. And lo and behold, not once was sick. Except for sinus problems. And the OTC medications knocked it out.

Just keep on hiding behind your mask like an obedient lapdog.

It was up to the Trump administration to balance the medical guidelines and the information the medical community was learning about the virus AND the impact on the residents of the USA.

It wasn't Fauci's responsibility to coordinate and balance the medical with everything else.

He was a member of the task force. Not in charge of it.

You don’t think he should side with scientific data/results? You’d be happier if he just guessed so it would “cost less?”

Hahahahah! I’m sorry. I don’t think you’ve thought this through. The $$ waste is and will be the preventable losses (death, illness, long term illness, jobs gone, businesses shuttered, Americans in the thousands, tens of thousands standing in horrific lines for hours for FOOD and WATER. IF they’re lucky.

Clearly you want to blame someone. I get it. I do too. Like a jilted wife, the last person you want to blame is your (hypothetical) wife... you have too much invested in that. N’est-ce pas?

From your logic you would fault the electrician for the bad pluming in a renovation of a house.

Stupid analogy. The proper analogy would be listening to an electrician and only an electrician on how to design your home. Something Democrats are advocating for.

No that is not what they are advocating for. That is what you are hearing. No federal laws have been implemented to make states comply with the guidelines presented by the medical team. Each state has been handling their own decisions.

Fauci presents the medical information and then everyone makes the decisions based on that.
