Apparently, there are only 300,000 of them with most living in Oklahoma. The right to use the brand name "Cherokee" could be fought out in court by Fiat Chrysler.
At any rate, the name "Cherokee" is a white man's way of calling the tribe. The natives have their own language and they call themselves something like "chuh-log-gee".
