Ill break it down. You said half a million Americans would disagree if they could. 500,000 (half a million/320,000,000 (us population) = 0.0015.
Being generous, 1%.
So apparently you don't understand what I said at all and just generated your own scenario about war and Covid and human life. I think that is how fake news is born.
There have been 500,000 American deaths due to covid. You tried to deflate that figure by stating what percentage of the population that is. I responded by stating that 500,000 American deaths is more Americans than died in WWII. So you can right say that 500,000 is a relatively small percentage of the population. And I can rightly say that 500,000 American deaths is more than died in WWII. It is all about how one decides to value hundreds of thousands of lives. Ironically, it is fake news to claim it is fake news.
A few days ago, Dr Fauci said the CDC will issue guidelines for the vaccinated "soon". Initially they said you don't have to quarantine if exposed. In Israel, which is well ahead of us and the rest of the world in vaccinations, the whole gamut of services and things like sports events etc is open to those who are vaccinated and can display their "green passport". We'll have to see what the CDC says, but if they are true to form it will be very conservative.
Admitting that I know little about it, I think that it would be smart for the vaccinated to go out to places and disregard the virus. If they get exposed, it is highly unlikely they get symptomatic disease and they effectively are getting another booster to their immunity. I will be returning to life as normal in few days myself. I will wear the mask though as others don't know I am vaccinated and I don't them to be concerned.

500K is less than one percent of the population.
Try using some logic instead of emotions.
It is irrelevant how many Americans died fighting in WII.
People die. Every day.
There are about 2.5 to 3million deaths in the us/year.
Although the numbers arent finalized for 2020 yet as far as I know, 2020 is comparable to previous years.
Do you mourn every death every year? Do you think there is some way to make us immortal?

So, your pitch that the death of 500,000 Americans can be dismissed is "no one lives forever".

My pitch is exactly what my words said its not a riddle: People die. Every day.

So your pitch is that people should live forever.
Are you this upset that 30-50 thousand people die every year from the annual flu. Over 35,000 people die from auto accidents, over 65,000 drug related deaths, 700 women die/year from pregnancy and childbirth.
Can the deaths of 3 million people be dismissed as no one lives forever.

So let's not worry about covid deaths because people die every day. You got to go sometime, right? So let's not worry about flu vaccinations. And airbags in cars was a waste in technology. And why we pursue a cure for cancer, that is beyond me.
as far as I know, 2020 is comparable to previous years.
As far as you know...you are wrong. The numbers are not comparable to previous years - they're "over" the average by about 500,000...approx. the same number as Covid deaths.
You throw out the 2.5 - 3M as if a 15% swing year to year were no big deal. You're wrong. It's a huge deal.
This link shows the deaths-per-thousand (USA) - and it hasn't varied much since 1977. Biggest single year change rarely approaches 1%. 15%? "comparable to previous years?" not even a little bit.
It isn't even that dangerous for those of us who haven't had the vaccine.
My uncle, exboyfriend, and multiple coworker would beg to differ.
They can't because they're dead. All under 60, my ex in his 30s.
That's to say nothing of the younger friends who face an unknown amount of time of loss of breath, fatigue, brainfog, and other issues that will increase their healthcare costs, reduce productivity, and just feels awful.
