A strong government will have more corruption. So to cut back on corruption, a week central government is needed. We need, like the constitution describes, a STRONG state government, that has its own sovereignty, that is held together by a weak central government.

We must reduce the government down to what is necessary.

Could not have said it better myself Diesel. The founders of this country knew that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and so designed it to be just as you said. The Federal Government was never meant to have the power they today exploit. We all need to stand up and demand this out of control animal be brought under control. But alas, they have already seized so much power that dislodging them from their strongholds will be like removing ticks from a long haired sheep dog. That is to say, it will be very difficult! Good post HD!

You don't seem to have learned any lessons from the Great Depression.

I guess you would rather the Robber Barons to run the country explicitly as in the 19th century, rather than implicitly like today.

And I guess you would rather disregard the Constitution in favor of George Orwell's "1984"

Yeah, good on both of you. However, the central government still needs to stay strong enough militarily to repel any threats and go on the offensive if required to protect its interests. Also, the judicial branch should still stay as strong as possible because it should remain an impartial and expert interpreter of Constitutional law. (Well, as impartial as it can get, I guess )

Well people don't elect officials who don't have 'experience'.

Experience comes with spending time in washington playing the games there. Thus experience means corruption. Thus, people only like electing corrupted officials.

That is how american democracy has evolved.

get rid of Lobbyists and look at how Duke Cunningham got over $2.1 million in kick backs and bribes while Jefferson from Louisiana got $900,000 in a freezer! Lobbyists are the most corrupting influence in politics today as they have gone from lobbying their causes to outright bribes for a vote. Throw them all in jail if they break the law!
