In some ways, I feel sorry for you folks in the South. Seems like you're brainwashed by conservative Southern white folks to become Confederate sympathizers and apologists in order to become "assimilated", and to dog black people. Even former Sheriff Harry Lee of Metarie has been on record for making some anti-black remarks. So it's not surprising you would, too.
Here's a few facts for you - San Francisco is the oldest Chinese American community in the USA. We've been here longer than you, we're bigger than you, and we constitute a larger percentage of the community overall. We also represent all walks of life, and even have elected representatives of our ethnicity. And better yet, we've kept our culture and heritage to a greater extent than you folks have.
And believe it or not, some of us actually worked and work together with other communities on common grounds, such as the Third World Strike at SF State University in the 1960s to establish Ethnic Studies. SF's Chinatown is unusually well-organized, politically, as a working class community, to have political clout. Rose Pak could roll with the boys (like Willie Brown and Art Agnos) to get representation and a seat at the table.
Oh, and in response to you dogging SF and California for what ever faults we have - I wouldn't talk. Not when your unofficial state motto is "Thank God for Mississippi."

If we are being honest, blacks are the only race in America that commits more violent crimes than they fall victim to. Yet the media narrative is that they are constantly victims of other whites.
The solid majority of interracial violent crimes are committed by blacks.
Asians are 85% more likely to be victims than offenders of violent crimes
Whites are 50% more likely to be victims
Hispanics about 10% more likely to be victims
The difference is that blacks are about 100% more likely to be offenders than victims.

Asians are the victims of black criminals far more than the other way around. I would say based on what I've seen that black-on-Asian crime is literally almost non-existent.
However unpleasant, humiliating, demeaning, rude, and uncouth it is for Asian-Americans to be told by whites or Hispanics to "go back to your country" or "you caused Covid" - and without doubts, that's wrong, rude, and inexcusable - the dangerous stuff (assaults, battery, robbery, and in some cases, even murder) is generally done by blacks.
Even in liberal San Francisco, which is home to a large Asian population which has been involved in local politics for quite a while and where Asians are essentially not even viewed as a minority they would be, let's say, in parts of the rural South, there have been many crimes by blacks against Asians and this predated Covid-19 by many years.
This is a URL depicting this problem in the San Francisco area. The story contained herewith is more than 10 years old. It says that 85% of the crimes against Asians were done by blacks. And this isn't bumble-hick, redneck, ignorant, toothless Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, or West Virginia. It's northern California. It's San Francisco. And it says that as of 2010 it was "nothing new."
For the record, the language I just used in the paragraph above is not meant to be derogatory. I used those words because there is a stereotype of white southerners as people who are uneducated and who need dental work. And while I'm sure some of them are indeed bigoted, for all these years, it hasn't been white southerners/white racists elsewhere who have repeatedly engaged in criminal activity against Asians.
New York City, another very liberal city with many minorities, is another case. Blacks have targeted Korean-owned shops for decades. Korean immigrants have often testified about how young black men often shoplift, and as bad as that is, many other times, they hold up shopkeepers at gunpoint. There have been shootings with dead Korean immigrant shopkeepers and diminutive middle-aged Korean shopkeepers - women - put in comas because black criminals pistol-whipped them.
Without doubt, what Robert Aaron Long was despicable. He deserves the death penalty. But to blame "white supremacy" for the more recent attacks against Asians (which, again, go back to liberal California: young black men assaulting Asian senior citizens and in some cases killing them, which is just another version of Asian grandparents punched and killed by black thugs doing their barbaric "knockout game") is ridiculous, divorced from the facts, politically expedient, ideologically motivated, and frankly, stupid.

A Good Samaritan was attacked while trying to stop a group of teenagers from harassing an Asian American owner of a laundromat in Brooklyn.
Michael Chang, the owner of Waverly Wu Laundry in Clinton Hill says the teens have been harassing him for months. He says he is very concerned, not only because of the rise in Asian American hate crimes, but the teens became violent on Friday.
Chang says the teenagers throw garbage from the streets inside the laundromat and at the windows. He says they also use racial slurs and tell him to 'go back to China.'
On Friday, things turned ugly as the group heckled Chang. A Good Samaritan tried to intervene, but police say, the teens turned on him, throwing a chair at that man and his dog. The Good Samaritan suffered injuries to his face and his head.

Yep, no one should verbally attack anyone and tell them to go home to their country, etc... And yes, most violent crimes against Asians occur in deep blue areas.
