Gee, this thread is like reading an old manuscript from the medieval medical community concerning the effectiveness of carrying posies in one's pockets to avoid the black plague and wearing a bird-beak-like "plague mask" in that it is entertaining, yet one of those eye-rolling situations.
Right? Read just like it was written by an advertising agency to sell more product. Well, maybe it was. Unfortunately one year later we all see it didn't have all the promised benefits.
They were correct at that time. This was before Delta and Omicron. They did warn about future variants changing the game and they also said they don't know long term efficacy. Future variants did change things, just as they warned. They were correct. They also said early on that boosters might be needed later.
Ah... Well, that's not what people are saying today. They are saying "nobody EVER said the vaccines would prevent disease or transmission, it's always been that it will reduce symptoms".
This thread documents that people DID believe the vaccine would stop covid. Delta or not, stopping the virus was the original claim. Too many people trying to re-write history. Well, CD has a way-back machine.
Poster nap1313 linked to some recent studies that are finding more and more, that people who get the current Covid-19 Vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna, not only have a much smaller chance of getting sick from the virus, but also are much less likely to transmit the virus to others who are not vaccinated.
This is excellent news, and indicates that with these vaccines, we can make large strides toward completely eradicating the Covid-19 virus. The sooner we can get to throwing away our masks, dining out regularly, attending baseball game in FULL stadiums with standing room only and movies in full theaters, letting our kids attend normal classes in person at their schools without need for masks, Zoom conferences and six-foot spacing, the happier we will all be.
And the news that vaccinated people won't give the virus to anybody near them, is (hopefully) the final nail in the coffin for this virus.
These studies are not finished, they still have more to do, before they can publish a final conclusion. But their preliminary results are looking better and better for a return to full normalcy, once everybody who wants a vaccine, gets one.
lol so we found out vaccines does not protect you from transmiting the virus so now i will believe scientist and media who told me before that i will not get sick and transmit it or get it that this new one fix all that. they think people are stupid or they are stupid they are now basically saying here is patch to fix warn ability of vaccine' like this is OS that needs a patch to protect from hacking

The Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE Covid-19 vaccine appeared to stop the vast majority of recipients in Israel becoming infected, providing the first real-world indication that the immunization will curb transmission of the coronavirus.
If confirmed, the early results on lab-tested infections are encouraging because they indicate the vaccine may also prevent asymptomatic carriers from spreading the virus that causes Covid-19. That’s not been clear because the clinical trials that tested the safety and efficacy of vaccines focused on the ability to stop symptomatic infections.

I thought this was a new thread, only to find out it's from almost a year ago. Anyway, they can always defend themselves because they only said "appeared", "may".
And when the data pointed towards the heading of this thread being true, the case for vaccine mandates was straightforward. One could argue differently, but it would have been very difficult. NOW, that's all out the window. Data clearly shows vaccines do not stop infection/transmission with the new variants. The case for vaccine mandates now ceases to exist. Of course, we don't live in an era where people change their mind when the facts change...
......and there still was never a vaccine for any variants past Alpha.
Oh my.
I could not believe OP, until I looked at the date on it!
So much for the "studies", OP!!! Inversely opposite result.
Fantastic. Glad, someone revived this. Particularly, you can't get infected or infect others part.
Excellent.

All the original Covid 19 vaccines provide for some coverage of all the variants so far. Most of the coverage on the newer variants is less specific and more generalized. The effect is to essentially pre-charge the immune system so that it ramps up more quickly in response to the newer variants. The end result is to reduce the chance of more serious disease, hospitalizations and deaths.
