The state can’t put anyone to death now because its supply of lethal injection drugs expired and it has not been able to buy any more. Currently, inmates can choose between the electric chair and lethal injection and since the drugs are not available, they pick the method that can’t be done.
The Senate bill keeps lethal injection if the state has the drugs, but requires prison officials to use the electric chair if it does not. An inmate could choose a firing squad if they prefer.
An excellent way to stop a killer from using (abusing) the system!
I say just give them life without parole and force them to watch the view. After an hour, they’ll beg to be put to death.
In solitary.
I'm against the death penalty. Not because it's too harsh, but because it's not harsh enough. Why should someone get to take the easy way out if they've committed something so heinous? Shove enough tubes in them to keep them alive and remove waste, strap them to a steel plate, then bolt them into a 6' x 2' x 1.5' concrete box. Take them out once every quarter for maintenance of the tubes, but inject some anesthetic through them first so they never get to experience being "outside."

There is cost to the maintenance of all that.....that I do no want to waste my money on. Firing squad sounds just fine.
