Mississippi legislators have passed a bill that would ban transgender athletes from competing on female sports teams in schools and universities -- one of over two dozen similar measures proposed by state lawmakers nationwide this year.
The state House voted 81-28 Wednesday to pass the so-called Mississippi Fairness Act. It passed the state Senate last month, 34-9. The bill now heads to Gov. Tate Reeves for approval.
It appears from the article that "over two dozen similar measures proposed by state lawmakers nationwide this year." The sad thing about that is that it is not 49 similar measures in all of the other states, and that there is not a bill pending in the Democrat controlled congress for the same purpose.
They better pass a bill like this in Texas, including a clear definition of how to distinguish males from females.
Let's be clear: If you have a Y chromosome, you are a male. If you only have X chromosomes, you are a female. This is a very straightforward standard that is easy to determine and apply.
Our government will be smaller with two, easily verifiable sexes, than with 56 optional genders (or whatever the latest count is), with the federal government running around inserting itself in all of that. So yes, smaller government.

So lemme see if I have this right: Federal government inserting itself bad, state government regulating college sports good?
Hope you warmed up before attempting that stretch.
Just admit it, it won't hurt: You don't want small government, you want government enforcing your point of view. Because that will feel small, to you.

You seem to be confusing the generally right leaning notion of smaller, more 'conservative' government (which conserves the rights and liberties of the people, for the people and to the people) with libertarianism, which is basically anti-government.
Our constitution assigns the responsibility for governing the vast majority of issues to the states. Not to the federal government, to the states. Obviously, it has never occurred to anyone who is not insane to try to redefine the basic idea of male vs female in a way that creates tremendous confusion, animosity and strife, not to mention that is fundamentally unscientific and wrong, until now. With a broad conspiratorial effort now underway to do just that, not only in our country but around the world, it is time for the states to take some corrective action.
It is sad that this is necessary, as it certainly should not be. But there is a broad coalition of apparent lunatics that are working in concert to destroy our country and to fundamentally debase the very most basic aspects of our civilization.
This is a good law and every state should pass something like it.
The State of Mississippi has passed a bill banning "transgender" student athletes (i.e., confused males) from female sports teams.

Disorders of sex chromosome, X and Y, consist of abnormality of the number or structure of the sex chromosome. Because sex chromosomes have a variety of genes related to sexual differentiation, disorders of sex chromosome induce a variety of disorders of sexual differentiation. At first, in this title, the process of normal sexual differentiation is shown. Classical disorders of sex chromosome are Klinefelter syndrome, XX male, XYY male, Turner syndrome, XXX female, and XY female. True hermphroiditism, mixed gonadal dysgenesis, and pure gonadal dysgenesis are also included, because most of these disorders have abnormal sex chromosome. Molecular analysis of sex chromosome is clarifying disorders with a minute abnormality of sex chromosome. They include male infertility, premature ovarian failure, and fragile X syndrome. Explanations of the above disorders are given briefly.
These syndromes are rare, but given the number of births in Mississippi last year, there would be 1 XY female born. Would you ban her from the girls' sports teams from her schools?
I think this is a positive move for female empowerment, the development of their personalities and not to mention the chance for their skill in their chosen sport to earn them a scholarship.
Of course the elected that did this will no doubt be called Neanderthals by Biden and the Left who seem content to kneel on the necks of young women everywhere and squash their dreams.
I'm okay with that. It's unfortunate for the TG folks who still want to compete, but it's fair for the female athletes who want to compete on a level playing field.

And the "transgender" students in this case can still compete - as males, which is what their DNA says that they are.
