What opportunities do they need to obey the law and stay in school?

The bottom rungs of the ladder are missing. You shouldnt need a college degree or advanced technical education to make an honorable living. Somehow the jobs between part time fast food job and bachelors degree entry level white collar is AWOL.

You want to know WHY a college degree or advanced technical education is needed to get a decent paying job these days? Read the Baltimore student thread. The kid, with a GPA of 0.137, is in the top half of his class.

You can always get a manual labor job but you risk your health doing that and the small pay raise isn't nearly enough for that. I think they should pay at least like 30 dollars an hour for backbreaking work (unless it made the cost of living higher).

Frankly I dont care if wages are $1.25 an hour AS LONG AS the rest of the cost of living makes that a livable wage. Make it 1cent per day, but you better be renting out an apartment for 15cents a month. And selling generous meals for half penny.

Wages gotta rise along with cost of living to make things work. Its as simple as that. But wages have stagnated last 30 years while cost of living has risen as if people were getting normal wage increases. Thanks to real jobs being exported to China for benefit of the rich.
Heck, $10 to $11 is less than the minimum wage of my two states (AZ is at $12, and CA is at $14 going to $15)

So what’s wrong with them? Why so many of them can’t make it?

Nobody owes you anything. So, nobody “should be” paid at any pay rate.

Very few people can end up working for NASA, whether they are native English speakers or not.

However, with the right work ethic and discipline, almost everybody can rise from poverty to the working class (at a minimum). All it takes is staying in school, getting some sort of vocational training after high school, and not having a baby until you’re married with a steady income.

Your problem is reading comprehension.
