The midwestern city is the first in the country to establish reparations with a commitment of $10M over the next decade.

In Evanston, Illinois, eligible Black residents will receive reparations up to $25K as part of a commitment from the city.

Edmunton's budget is around $300,000,000 per year. The $10M in reparations is spread over 10 years, so its basically $1M per year, or .33% of the budget. Another way of looking at it is that it will cost every person in the city a $13.33 per year. I'm not a fan of reparations in general, but if this is all it costs to make folks happy, it sounds like a bargain.

I doubt it will end there. Someone somewhere is upping the ante. Maybe free new cars or free homes.

2) I notice that when an article is published by a liberal source, they capitalize Black and lowercase white. Why are blacks being elevated above whites in this way?

They will end up raising the property taxes and claw every penny of that money back over time and then some. The people they give the money to will in the end pay more over their lifetime than what they were originally given. A nice little benefit would be if they use the money to fix up some of the homes so the tax assessor can make his rounds.
