Media will hide how upset people are with Democrats. You pretty much have to go here or YouTube comments to hear the truth from people.
If Youtube comments are to be considered a source of truth, we may as well pull the plug on Western Civilization. Or this place - look at how many posters barge in, somehow convinced that the movies aren't being shown, when in fact the exact opposite is the case.
The thought that you and yours are in the minority is not one you're willing to entertain?
LOL the left will eat itself... they don't even recognize that they have already gone too far and people will reject them during the mid-terms. If they keep pushing this agenda it's going to be a bloodbath for them.
We're talking TCM here, right? What office are they running for?
Nothing is canceled in this case but there seems to be an inflated sensitivity to issues that spark false victimhood. Only in our current socially and culturally disturbed era would someone find a reason to be victimized by Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Stagecoach. Then there is an overreaction to somehow assuage the feelings of the thumb-sucking snowflakes. Having a short intro discussion is not the same as canceling.
Progressives will reduce us to purchasing black market DVD's, controversial books in print, conveying unpopular ideas and speech though pamphleteering...
They are an evil lot.
The title of this thread is a bold faced lie. The films are not being banned, they're being shown and discussed. Geez.
On the other hand, it does bother me that Disney won't release Song of the South.
You can get it on DVD of you know where to find it. I bought my dad a copy last fall because it was the 1st film he ever saw in a theater, and he's been trying to find a copy for years.

Not victimized as much as repulsed. A whole lot of people will encounter Mr. Yunioshi, decide that their grandparents had some really bad taste in comedy and move on to something less offensive. And in doing so, miss out on Audrey Hepburn's performance.
So we're going ahead with this "three wise monkey" BS... I can't wait to see the backlash for all this crap. It will come and when it does, the wokes will not be happy at all.
For those of you old enough, remember the warning on LPs? All that did was prompt certain musicians to be as vile, profane, and disgusting as possible... and then try that much harder to sell their material. It worked; the "cancel culture" of the time backed off almost completely. They found that the warning label made kids of the time (like me) buy that "offensive" material all the more.
Not sure you quite understand what's happening here.
Breakfast at Tiffany's played Mickey Rooney in yellowface as a cheap racist laugh. The works, full-out and unironic - prostetic buckteeth, round glasses, silly accent. Har-de-harhar, look at that funny guy not fitting in with civilized people.
Blazing Saddles, on the other hand, spends a lot of running time on skewering just that sort of folksy racism and those who hold on to it.
If you can't handle the idea of someone pointing out that perhaps we shouldn't have made a joke out of this:
- then the creators of Blazing Saddles aren't in your corner.
Mickey Rooney's role is a blemish in an otherwise great film. So we put it in perspective, rather than forget or edit the film. Americans can't handle adult conversations like that?
That's a good imitation by Rooney. Why didn't they get a real Chinaman for that role?
