The Royal Family has no power in British government. They are expected to remain politically neutral publicly, and they're even discouraged from voting.

These two have millions of pounds. I’m quite sure they can afford their own security detail. How does Oprah pay for her own security?

And I don't care. Why should - or would - I? I'm an American. We fought - and killed - a lot of people over whether we should be subject to a royal family.

I think the whole idea of a hereditary royal family is stupid. Seems altogether fitting to me if a stupid institution is "brought down" by an equally stupid family fight. It's almost as if the idea of having a royal family is on its last legs anyway.

Prince Charles will bring it down with his own idiocy, which would be a better outcome than some familial spat. I’d sure hate it if an American was the cause.

Why???? Seems to me that IF an American does bring the institution down, she's just finishing the job that George Washington started, not to mention all the other folks who resisted and fought the red coats. You do think those Americans were right to throw off the royalist yoke, don't you?

I like Prince Charles and I think he will continue to modernize and simplify the family. What needs to go is this endless cruelty that is handed down through the generations. Edward VIII was banished because he abdicated to marry someone who wasn't approved of. They should have let him step down and just live his life. Then there was Princess Margaret who wanted to marry the man she loved. She got the choice of giving up her title or not marrying him. She chose to keep the title but she was pretty crazy for the rest of her life. Then there was Diana. The "firm" didn't do anything to try to help her with her emotional problems and that led to her eventual death. The "firm" seems to have zero compassion. Diana could have been helped and still have had a divorce instead of forcing her to suffer and then to go on tv and embarrass the family. They never learn. Now history is repeating itself. No compassion for anyone who isn't perfect.

It was a topic of conversation at our dinner table a few times. What do you think our baby is going to look like with Mexican and Ashkenazi Eastern European lineage?
It's a natural question mixed families ask during pregnancy.
But, my opinion of both of them changed after the interview.
I wish them the best in America.
Everyone knows those Royals are nasty and a bit out of touch within their "institution ".
To dismiss someone's cry for help in the light of suicide is inhumane.
