This is a tough topic. We have a problem in that often rape is a hard to prove crime if the assailant is at all careful. And it happens a LOT. But the other side isn't wrong when they point out that some folks use it as a weapon.
Which do you care more about then? The victim, or the perpetrator. And which ones? The ones falsely accused of rape, or the ones that were raped? Because often we cant tell which is going on.
I feel like we're going to go back and forth on this until we have a 100% perfect lie detector. Until then? We're going to struggle with something that doesn't have any good answers.
This is referencing college disciplinary actions. I would think the .gov has bigger fish to fry than how a university handles internal disciplinary actions for its students.
So much for "small government" conservatives, eh?
Then why is Biden signing an executive order to look into it eh?
Since most higher education receives federal aide, it stands to reason these entities are not 'excluded' from being held accountable for it's student/staff body from being held accountable.
Some universities DO try to hide indiscretions from the public.
Dare I remind you, for years the PENN STATE debacle went thru internal side stepping til the young men spoke up and uncovered the reality of what Sandusky did.
We talk about investigating all sides ...and to do so we need guidelines open to this task.

If they're taking federal money of anykind they should use federal standards.

Innocent until proven guilty is good enough for US legal system, why not for universities?
The Duke lacrosse team case of 2006 springs to mind. They were the young men that were of rape by a woman they had hired as a stripper. The media dragged them through the mud only to find out later the woman was lying. Oh well.
Has anyone reached out for comment from Tara Reade?
Yeah, the irony is unbelievable. This was Obama's policy. Maybe the one thing Obama hasn't done...sexually assaulted someone.

I agree it is a tough topic and sexual assault is hard to prove. Both types of victims are equally important, as it can be life changing either way. I'm not sure what the right answer it, but due process should be a part of it. Innocent until proven guilty. Harsh penalties for either rape or false accusations. Women need protection from crazy men, and men need protection from crazy women.
