Logic is where I come up with this stuff. Try to keep up.
1) You, a private seller, wishes to sell one of your guns
2) You find a buyer. It's someone you don't know.
3) Said buyer is a convicted serial killer and has been recently paroled.
4) Without a background check, you have no way of knowing #3.
5) As a result of Biden's law, a background check reveals the buyer can't legally buy a gun.
6) Thanks to the new law you, the seller, now know the potentially buyer can't legally own a gun.
7) You don't sell him the gun. Victory!!
He's trying to buy the gun illegally. A background check will prevent him from doing so in this particular set of circumstances. Again - this is really easy, obvious stuff. Try harder. Much harder. Before implying someone is stupid, check the mirror. Ironically, your post literally proved my point.
Serial killer would just kill you and take all of the guns.
Try harder. People who have murdered multiple people do, in fact, sometimes end up back on the streets. Do your research. More importantly, you're deflecting. The point is that background checks will reveal people who legally can't own guns. A serial killer was just an example.

No you haven't, or you'd know that there are, in fact, convicted serial killers who are currently no longer in custody. That's fact. You can continue to deny the facts, but you're just making yourself look bad. Anyone can dig up this info, so citing your useless degree just makes you look worse. Frankly, I'm astounded that you made it through college without knowing how to search the internet. Criminal Justice is a fluff degree, but I would have expected even CJ majors to have to do a little research.

I'm not sure what's going on in this thread. Like I've said already - I'm pro-gun and a lifetime NRA member. However, the level of cognitive dissonance among some of the pro-gun folks in this thread rivals that of the wokest lefties. Even when confronted with well documented facts and unassailable logic, you guys are doubling down on the dumbness. I admire you passion for the protection of gun rights, but not being able engage in rational discourse on the topic isn't helping our case.
The 2nd as written recognizes an existing right (gun ownership of the individual) and is an acknowledgment that the fed govt has no authority to infringe on that right. There are no exceptions.
So you're right, we dont have to play the slipperly slope game, which really isnt that slippery, because it is a certainty that if given an inch, the state will keep taking. For further proof see this discussion and thousands of others about gun rights and laws, which if the constitution were indeed followed, wouldn't even be taking place.
By its own rulebook the fed govt has no role in gun ownership, period. That means no NICS,mental health, training or gun safety requirements. Your wishes and opinions are irrelevant to the matter.
I addressed this already. Read what I already wrote in this thread. In a perfect world, no one would be allowed to own a gun without background checks and safety training. I understand the legal challenges behind what I am saying. That doesn't make me less correct. There is absolutely no problem with removing the right to bear arms from people who prove to be mentally unstable, or mentally immature enough to pass a simple safety test. I understand your interpretation of the constitution differs from mine on this topic. We can agree to disagree.

Holy crap. That is precisely the point. Right now, a convicted felon can buy a gun from a private seller because the seller won't know he's a felon. Under Biden's law, the seller would know and wouldn't sell him the gun. The buyer, knowing his background will be checked WON'T EVEN TRY TO BUY THE GUN (those are your words, sport). Even if he did, THE SELLER WOULDN'T SELL IT TO HIM.
Bottom line:

Lol...that is some seriously flawed logic. This has already been brought up. Why would a convicted felon, that is well aware that just having a firearm in his posession, try and purchase one legally ? If this worked, Detroit would have zero shootings. See, handguns have to be registered with the MSP, yet we have shootings on a nightly basis. Kind of blows your logic out of the water. What you fail to grasp, is criminals don't follow laws, period. And they will find ways to get a firearm.
