Europe is proving to be a leading indicator for what happens in the states. Given that southern states are "spiking the ball at the five yard line" and the more contagious strains have taken root, a new surge wouldn't surprise me.
Wrong again. My state has been open since the summer and our death and infection rates are down despite the UK strain.
It's better to be under control of the virus by being sick with it to as much as needing a hospital stay than under control of government by being required to wear a mask and other restrictions, huh?
Hopefully not. The vaccine should help at least for now. My point was many on the left looked to Europe as the example of how to deal with a pandemic. Lock downs, massive contact tracing, very strict rules on life. Yet they can't get it under control. They are now doing much worse than the USA which is interesting.
HUH many on the left? Really? The left cited Europe as an example...really?
And do we know if we have it under control?
We have the 8th highest rate per capita ----Andora, Montengro CZeechia, Gibralter, San Marino, Slovenia Luxembourg ahead of us.
France is at 27, Germany at 72 ---
So is it about the number of waves or the intensity of the waves -- that's the question.
New covid cases in Europe are on the increase again. Its easy to see why. The EU was extremely slow at approving vaccines and getting them distributed. The authorities seemed content in dotting all the I's and crossing the T's which is now coming back to bite them. Less than 10% of EU residents have been vaccinated compared to over 21% in the USA. So what happened to Europe with its big government and socialized medicine? Why has it failed them so badly?
A third wave of the Covid pandemic is now advancing swiftly across much of Europe. As a result, many nations – bogged down by sluggish vaccination campaigns – are witnessing sharp rises in infection rates and numbers of cases.
The infection rate in the EU is now at its highest level since the beginning of February, with the spread of new variants of the Covid-19 virus being blamed for much of the recent increase.
As more and more of those who are likely to die from Covid have been vaccinated I don't think the number of cases is that important. If the vaccines are truly effective the deaths should start dropping dramatically and the number of cases will also decline.
So, some of us fear we won't be lucky enough to be that 99% or that it won't be any worse than the common cold and will, instead, require a long hospital stay.
It's better to be under control of the virus by being sick with it to as much as needing a hospital stay than under control of government by being required to wear a mask and other restrictions, huh?
only 10 per cent of residents in South Carolina are full vaccinated...is that the same rate as Europe? In fact most of the south east is at just under 10 or 11 percent at most.
Are you sure we are doing a better job than other countries?
