Well - there's the payoff to the family courtesy of the taxpayers... facilitated by the passing of the COVID bill to "help states and localities with funding due to COVID"... with which they have unrestricted use of their bailout money.

Follows the pattern that occurred with Freddie Gray in Baltimore. Pay off the family... cops exonerated. We will see if the pattern continues.

Minneapolis approves "historic" $27 million settlement with George Floyd's family

The Minneapolis City Council approved Friday a $27 million civil settlement with the family of George Floyd over the Black man's death in police custody last year. The city council voted 13-0 to approve the settlement, which directs $500,000 to be used to benefit the George Floyd Memorial site at 38th and Chicago.

-------------

Lawyer Antonio Romanucci said the family hopes more reforms will be implemented at the police department, including a panel to review all use of force incidents, a quality assurance unit to ensure reforms are adhered to, and an early intervention system that will rely on analytics to identify problem officers. He said the settlement should be a "wake-up call" for police departments across the country to swiftly take up reforms to prevent needless death and serious injury.

Is kneeling on one's neck still legal in Minneapolis?

Don't fret over it. One sure thing is the 27m will be back into economy within one year and it will probably end up killing some of the family while they spend it.

Its funny to hear so many people disagree, but at the end of the day...what will they do about it...NOTHING!

Even the residents of that city that disagree, will do nothing, they may whine and complain a little bit, but thats about it, they will continue to pay their taxes and comply with their cities laws. LOL

Because the $27 million represents the present value of what George would have earned during his lifetime.

So, if you are a violent criminal who gets killed by the police, your family could be financially set for generations to come.

I think a lot of people would consider taking up an offer like that.

Yeah I heard that on the news and thought about getting into the drug dealing business but I'm really too caring to threaten a pregnant woman by pointing a gun at her baby.

$27 million. WOW. what a jackpot. Of course what happened to Floyd was wrong. Watching the footage the cops were being extra kind to the guy until that one sadistic cop showed up and put him on the ground for 9 minutes.

Maybe the family of Floyd can put that money back into their neighborhood and others that were torn up with the riots?

If Chauvin was an upstanding cop beyond reproach they would not have given that family a penny. You see I know all the tweekers and stoners and dopers walking around downtown. I could go up to any one of them, throw them on the ground and lean on their neck with my knee for eight minutes and kill them. I would be charged with murder. They would still die with drugs in their system.

I would guess that a large percentage of people arrested have drugs an/or alcohol in their system. The courts are using it as a get out of jail free card for aggressive policing.
